A simple glossary script using AutoHotKey

This text is primarily intended for translators.

As a translator in the field of Information Technology, I often have to work with online or desktop software chosen by clients. However, sometimes these programs do not have integrated glossaries, or the software includes a terminology tool, but the translator is not granted the privilege to add terms, only to consult them.

With this in mind, it seemed useful to develop an external glossary tool that would allow me to record my findings and retrieve them when needed, regardless of the software chosen by the client. It is not a complete or professional solution, but rather an auxiliary tool to temporarily meet this need.

The software consists of the .ahk script and a text file (MINIGLOS.ini).

In the MINIGLOS.ini, file, glossary items are formatted as follows:

To add terms, highlight the word to be translated and use the shortcut Ctrl+E. Then, to the right of the equals sign, enter the translated term. In our example, we are using the word crash.

Confirm with OK. From this moment on, it will be possible to search for the term in our mini glossary using the shortcut ctrl+Q. The following window will be displayed:

Fill in the term, and the results will be listed:

Another function is replacing glossary terms in the text. To do this, select the term and use the shortcut Ctrl+R:

The package with the scripts is available at this link. It includes both the .ahk script file and the executable application (.exe).
